The Sea of Wine Project launched!

 Promote the Black Sea Region as a Wine Tourism Destination

 

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Special Account for Research Funds, School of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Economics, participates in the Sea of Wine project that aims to jointly develop a common wine tourism brand in the Black Sea Basin region.

The project will help wine and wine tourism SMEs and local- rural stakeholders, in the participant countries, to develop common approaches for presenting and promoting their products and services and achieving overall rural development and sustainability (social, environmental and economic one). The main initiative is to develop and implement country-level Wine Routes and incorporate them into a single Black Sea Wine Route. An in-house built ICT platform will provide necessary information about the route, countries and their products and wine tourism – rural tourism services. The common label, The Black Sea Wine Glass Member will act as a networking platform between the countries and bring more recognition to the region as a wine tourism destination. A series of events dedicated to wine and wine tourism will take place: Let’s Talk about Wine, The Wines of the Black Sea event, all conducted according to the standards of the International Organization of Vine and Wine. Trainings on wine tourism marketing of destinations will empower all players in rural areas. The combination of these activities and project participants’ commitment will significantly enhance the recognition of the Black Sea region as the Historic World of Wine.
